The AgriBusiness Group was established in 2001 to help build business capability in the primary sector.
It comprises a group of people dedicated to working with clients to develop sustainable and resilient businesses that:
- Fulfil the development needs of people, organisations and businesses involved in rural industries.
- Empower clients to position themselves for the future using creative and practical solutions and processes.
- Concentrate on markets in which they can develop competitive advantage.
- Establish industry best practice through the products and services they provide.
The four establishing partners (Directors) in The AgriBusiness Group are Jon Manhire, Stuart Ford, Sue Cumberworth and Geoff Mavromatis. They have all spent their working careers dedicated to the primary sector in New Zealand and overseas. They had all developed their consultancy skills inside the Ministry of Agriculture (MAF) Advisory Services Division and its various stages of commercialisation, until the business known as Agriculture New Zealand, was sold into private ownership. Within Agriculture New Zealand, a subsidiary of Wrightson Ltd, Geoff Mavromatis rose to be the General Manager and Jon Manhire was the leader of the Agribusiness Division. Stuart Ford and Sue Cumberworth were both Senior Consultants in that organisation.
Where specialist skills are required the aim is to collaborate with whoever is able to bring the best set of skills to any particular project. This could mean that The AgriBusiness Group employs staff for some roles and sub-contracts other consultants, in other roles. The aim is to ensure that contract milestones and project outcomes are achieved, in a cost-effective structure. The size of the core team within the company allows enough flexibility to bring together the best people in tailor made teams, while ensuring that major projects can be managed effectively.
The company now employs 13 people in New Zealand that operate from 5 offices.
